Principal, The OB♦C Group, LLC "The Senate is losing a legend," a senior congressional staffer said upon the retirement of Bob Stevenson as senior counselor and communications director for Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. Mr. Stevenson capped a 25-year career in politics and government in 2006, when he retired from the Senate to join The OB♦C Group. Mr. Stevenson joined Senator Frist in 2002, and not only served as the Majority Leader’s chief spokesman and communications strategist, but also was a valued advisor on legislative and procedural matters. Prior to joining the Majority Leader, Mr. Stevenson was communications director for the Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Sen. Pete Domenici. He served in that capacity for nine years in both the minority and majority. He was communications director for Senator Warren Rudman of New Hampshire for 12 years prior to joining the Budget Committee staff. Senator Rudman was at the forefront of budget policy reform and the landmark changes in the budget process that took place during the 1980s. Throughout his career, Mr. Stevenson was consistently described as one of the Hill’s top congressional staffers. Mr. Stevenson also served in a volunteer capacity for three Republican presidential candidates. Prior to government service, Stevenson was a professional journalist. A native of Long Island, New York, Mr. Stevenson was graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a major in communications. |
