David J. Heil joined the OB-C Group in October of 2015 after a 22-year career in the House of Representatives. 

Most recently, Mr. Heil served as chief of staff to Representative Sam Johnson (R-TX), a retired Air Force fighter pilot who was shot down over North Vietnam and spent seven years as a Prisoner of War in the infamous Hanoi Hilton.

Rep. Johnson is a senior Member of the House Ways & Means Committee where he chairs the Subcommittee on Social Security and sits on the Health Subcommittee. In the 112th Congress, House leaders appointed Sam to the Joint Committee on Taxation.  Congressman Johnson also serves as a Deputy Whip in the House leadership structure and is also member of the Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents.

Mr. Heil moved to Washington in 1995, where he served as the legislative director for a newly elected Member of Congress from Ohio.  He went on to serve as the chief of staff for three different Members of the House.  He also spent several years with the government affairs team at McKenna, Long & Aldridge, LLP before returning to finish his Hill career with Rep. Johnson.

Mr. Heil has worked in all levels of government in his 20-plus years in politics.  After college, he joined the staff of his hometown Member of Congress before leaving to serve as professional staff in the Ohio Senate.  During this time he also won a city council seat in his hometown of Lancaster, Ohio.

He sits on the Board of the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne, a non-profit whose mission is to find therapies, and ultimately a cure, for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  The Heils’ son suffers from Duchenne.

Dave resides in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife and their two children.  He enjoys golf, fishing and boating.

He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Political Communications.
